questions and answers

Q: I can’t find anything on the website to click in order to register. How do I register?

A: Buttons and links for registering show up on the website only during the three periods a year when registration for the next session is open. If you have never sung with us before, go to the SESSION INFORMATION block on the “Sing with Us” page to find a button that will take you to the registration form. If you have sung with us before, even if only once—or long ago, go to the Singer Area, and use the REGISTER button in the Quick Links to get to the correct form. (You will have to log in to get into the Singer Area.) During most of the rest of the year, there are JOIN NOTIFICATION LIST buttons on the “Sing with Us” page. These will put you on a list to be notified when a registration period opens, but you must still go through the registration process.

Q: I think I registered. How do I know if I succeeded?

A: Almost immediately after registering you should have gotten an email message from Crescendo Community Chorus. If you have never sung with us before, the message will include a password for logging into the Singer Area of our website. Check your junk or spam email if you don’t see the message. In order to register, it is not enough to edit your profile and check the box for the upcoming session. It is also not enough to pay a participation fee (although, of course, we love that). You must fill out the form and click the REGISTER (new singers) or REGISTER ME (returning singers) button.

Q: I registered but didn’t pay my participation fee right away. I’m ready to pay now. How do I get back to the payment page?

A: Go to crescendochorus.org/participation-fee. Please use this form, rather than the form you get by pressing DONATE.

Q: What is the difference between signing in and registering?

A: “Signing in” (or “logging in”) is our term for gaining access to the member-only information on the Singer Area page of the website. Once you have sung with us, even in the past, you are eligible to get a password and sign in at any time. “Registering” is our term for becoming a participant in one of our three annual sessions. Even if you have sung with us numerous times previously, you must register separately for each session.

Q: I can’t figure out how to change my password.

A: It’s a little obscure:

  1. On the Singer Area page, log in with your existing password.

  2. At the bottom of the page, find the UPDATE PROFILE BOX and click the EDIT button. This will take you to the About tab of your profile.

  3. Under the eight text-entry fields for Name, Voice Part, etc., there is a line
    Password
    Change

  4. Click Change to initiate the process.

Q: When I try to play one of the rehearsal recordings, I get a message “There was a problem playing this audio file.”  What can I do about this?

A:  The first thing to try is clearing your browser’s cache.  When you stream or download a file from a source on the web (a “server”), the browser stores a copy of the file on your computer, to save time fetching the file the next time you want to use it.  Over time, the cached copy can sometimes get corrupted and be unusable.  Clearing the cache forces the browser to fetch a new copy from the server.  Instructions for clearing the cache vary by browser and device.  Search for “How to clear the cache in XXX on YYY,” where XXX is Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, or whatever your browser is, and YYY is Windows 11, Mac, Android, iPhone, or whatever your device/operating system/platform is.  Some browsers permit you to clear only the portion of the cache for a particular website.  If that’s what you want, include the phrase “for a specific website” in your search.
